Re purpose Don't Throw out

I hate throwing things out and will do my best to reuse or repurpose them.

For instance, I had a couple of rails left over from the porch I built. I couldn't bring myself to throw them out.
Then I thought. I know what I could do: enlarge the holes, drill drain holes, anchor them upside down, and turn them into planters that also double as a border.

Part 1 of the RT 66 through Illinois

Part 1 of the RT 66 through Illinois. Way too much to see, never made the goal of arriving in St. Lois, only reached Springfield.

So many detours, sites to see and I talk too much, I mean people talk to me too much,
Not bad considering I still use an old handy cam holding it with one hand and driving with the other. Hey, you guys use cell phones and text I don't so don't say anything.
If you wanted to know what its like driving with me, well here you go, enjoy the ride.

Mayfield Village Cruise 2025

What a fun day at the Mayfield Village Cruise. Its like a MINI- Woodward Dream Cruise.

I saw James and Lorain, so I pulled in to talk to them.

I asked a boy looking at my van what was his favorite car. He told me the Corvette and then sheepishly asked if I could take him around the loop.

I said we need to ask your mom first.

The next thing I know, he jumps in, followed by his sisters and their friends.

What well-behaved, happy kids, all smiles. I had to get them yelling and shouting silly things at the crowd, Happy New Year, and whatever else popped into our heads.

I made two loops with them in the van.

Jordan asked for my number so he could call me for next year's cruise, one girl gave me a hug, and Mom was happy her kids had fun and got to go cruising.

It made my night to see young ones just whooping it up, carefree, having a ball, and feeling like they were part of the show, and they were.

Metal Detecting a Plastic Coin

Switching gears - back a few weekends when it was cold and windy Mike Budas and I went metal detecting on an old school grounds where a school once stood.

Mike wanted to try out his new metal detector that has all the bells and whistles.

I still use the old method, swinging a magnet on a string and when it stick to the ground I know there's metal. OK mines not that old but its older and basic.
Not much luck, lots of pull tabs, one badly crushed beer can and a plastic coin.
Mike exclaimed "HOW DID YOU FIND A PLASTIC COIN METAL DETECTING"?
You know, that is a mystery, ain't it?

NICE!

Saturday at the park, Mike Budas and I went metal detecting.

Three little kids with their mom and dad came running over to see what we were doing.

One said I am three. I replied, Oh yeah, how old are you? Six, and then the boy spoke, I am five. The six-year-old corrected him; you are not; you are four and a half.

I told them what we were doing and explained we are hoping to find lost treasures.
The six-year-old, all excited, said look what I found and gave it to me. It was a little rubber magnet. She said you can keep it. I said aww, that's nice!
The end.

OH, I found one rusted pipe, a pull tab, a rusted who knows what it was metal disc, another rusted hunk of who knows what it was, and a 7/Up bottle cap.

A peak inside my head...

 A peak inside my head...

These are just some of the notes of dreams, thoughts, poems, and stories I've written and accumulated through the years.
I jot them down on whatever scrap paper is in front of me.
I even sketched a few dreams I had; at the time, I thought it was a good idea, but sadly, I don't remember what the dream was now.
Some will end up in my book, some saved and some scrapped.

End of an Era - Good Bye Big Chuck

This is an old photo of Big Chuck and me and a poster of him as the Kielbasy Kid that has hung on my wall since I was a kid.

Big Chuck was the face of Cleveland.
His passing ends an era never to be seen again.
Big Chuck was like family to many living in Cleveland and the NE Ohio area.
Big Chuck will be missed.

Preston Court Day 2024 - Preston, Kentucky

Last week, I was driving and walking through this sea of humanity and maze of trinkets. doodads, whatnots, Bluegrass, and guns.
Wish I was back in KY having a cold glass bottle of Ale8.

I did OK on this vid. There are a few parts where I panned too quickly while walking. Still, it gives you a good feel of the size of the event, the interesting characters, and the down-home goodness of everyone getting along and enjoying the festival on a beautiful day out in the country. .
