Springtime Fresh

Well, I did something stupid again.

There I was at Ollie's, studying the laundry detergent to figure out which one was the best deal.
This one gets only 64 loads, but you use less, this one does 100 loads but uses more.
Finally, after calculating all the data in my brain, I found a soap that looked like the best deal.
I go home, throw in my dirty clothes, add the soap as the machine fills, and nothing happens. No suds. I add more. No suds. What kind of liquid nonsense is this? I add yet more, and still nothing.
I stop, read the label, and, duh! I bought fabric softener.
But, I tell you what, not sure if my work clothes were clean, but they sure were soft, and even after working all day in them, I still smelled springtime fresh. And boy, were they soft, really soft.

Back to the Ole Farm House Site

Mike Budas and I ventured back to the old farm house site soon slated for development to do more metal detecting. No real treasures but I feel there are still some to be uncovered.

We found more broken glass, a deer skull - I believe it is, a milk glass canning jar lid, a burner from a stove, and I found a horseshoe.
Mike said you know what a horseshoe represents?
Yes, I horse around too much.

Jesus Feeds Kentucky

I only took a few videos during my trip to visit Charlie Conkright and attend Court Days in Kentucky, but the ones I did came out well.

I met some interesting people and made new friends.

This is one such person with a hundred stories to tell: Michael Young, founder of Jesus Feeds KY. I could have sat there all day listening to him.

If you get the chance to meet Michael Young, listen to his testimony of him dying. Amazing story.

Will be posting the other videos when time allows.

September 23rd through the 26th I was in NC.

Last week, September 23rd through the 26th I was in NC.

Monday was terrific at the Billy Graham Library; Tuesday was an OK day, but Wednesday was stressful; that's when the rains started.
We were trying to find the Blue Ridge Parkway Skyline Drive entrance; GPS got us spun around leaving Ashville.
We stopped at the Black Mountain visitor center to ask for directions. After joking with the lady telling her, my parents took me here as a kid, then in 2000 I came back, but there was a freak weather system with such heavy fog I couldn't see anything, and now I am here, and it's supposed to rain. She said well, you may not see it again. I just got off the phone with my friend who works with FEMA, and he said to get prepared. It's going to be bad, really bad. But she never suggested turning around and heading out. We arrived at the entrance of Skyline Drive, but they had locked the gates. I was upset, thinking I had driven through worse, so I got back on 40 E to where we stayed when the heavens opened...
This was just the start of the hurricane; it was madness on the freeway, driving through such heavy downpours it was hard to see with the highway already partially flooded.
The beginning of this video shows where we were on Wednesday.
The photos are what I took while driving

This is where I received the info from the visitor center, in Black Mountain that also was hit with catastrophic flooding from Helene that had a critical dam breech that wiped out Chimney Rock. I am fairly certain the visitor center is wiped out or severely damaged.

Good-by '22 and Hello '23!

   Goodby 2022, and welcome 2023!

2022 in many ways, was worse than the covid years, yikes!

And in other ways was much better, but overall it's still a year to remember as thank goodness I made it through that mess.

2022 started off badly with getting a nasty case of the covid-blues New Year's Eve 2021; that bout of illness lasted till almost the first of February.

Hmm, thinking about it, guess it was another covid year.

Then I got whammied again with round two of being sick from the tail-end of July till the start of September.

The annual Winter Cookout/Freeze Fest commenced once again. Every year I think its the last, but it proceeded. Though instead of being held on the last Saturday in February, a change was made, and it was held on the first Saturday in March, and it was a warm one, the warmest WC on record.

Work, work, work, and more work. Work was steady throughout the year and, at times, was beyond hectic. Food was always on the table, bills paid, and I was blessed.

Even more hectic and insanely bizarre was the revolving door of whacked out - crazed - mentally unstable - drug induced (I guess?) - psychotic behavior of the people (can I call them people?)  I tried to employ. If I was the only one who was on a search for employees, I would hide my head in shame, but you gotta take what's out there, and these people were OUT THERE!

A whole book could be written on the great employment debacle of '22.

Five marched in, and five either stormed out screaming or went missing like I sent them on a mission to the Bermuda Triangle. If you are one of these when you land back to earth or gather your brain, please return my work shirts.

Since we are on the topic of the mentally unstable and backstabbing deviants, a tenant walked out, that's another insanely funny story, and someone I've known since school paid by check for work I did in her house only to stop payment on that check. Hey, if this is a sort of play-by-play of my year, I gotta include these things.

I politic'd a little. Blystone for governor fell flat, but my early pick of Vance for Senate was correct. So it was a 50/50 year.

Sport-wise, my prediction was correct, cutting Mayfield was bad, and the Browns would be even badder. Yes, I know I just wrote a word that doesn't exist, but the Browns are also a nonexistent team.

Travel was little to no traveling, just some day trips and Sunday drives.

The highlights were meeting three interesting gentlemen. Don, owner of Market Square in Kinsman, Ohio, Robert "Quiet Wolf" Thompson of the Lenape Nation at a Powwow, and Bill, a 98-year-old WWII veteran.

So how did '22 wrap up?.... with a death threat followed by a crash bang boom accident. In other words, it ended in a typical Carey fashion, unpredictable, and now what!

This is an older photo but the expression says it all....

So 2023 now what! What ya have in store for me?

Lastly, in conclusion I like to thank the new friends and acquaintances I met in '22 and a heartfelt thank you to those who stuck by me, you are never overlooked.

What you be saying?

The problem with owning a Korean car and joining a group is that I need an interpreter.
Unlike the American car and van clubs I belong to, I can understand what they are trying to say.
Here is an example:
Hyundai Accent i hatchback 1994
In 1994, hyundai accent i hatchback looks good, and you cannot dispute about it. In this 1994 accent could brag good technical specs. Looking at these images of hyundai accent i hatchback version of 1994 year it is hard to said that you do not want to have this car. Friends, as you know, our authors leaving in different countries, that is why we good knows, how in 1994 hyundai accent i hatchback looks.
Sounds to me like a Biden speech.

A look into the near future

A look into the near future

Monday sports story following an opening day loss by the Browns.

 AP Sports:

Browns traded away their entire roster during the summer except for Baker Mayfield who bravely took the field alone on opening day. The game did not go well for the Cleveland Brown who was thoroughly trounced. Owner Haslam was quite irate about the lopsided loss and blamed it on his QB for being less than an adult.

Mayfield who was playing with a torn ACL, two broken arms, and a partially severed head said he will be out there next Sunday and has to do better.

Haslam said he is not going to trade Baker regardless and no, he doesn’t need more players but needs to grow up.

Mike Trivisonno, of WTAM 1100 Cleveland's Newsradio

I am really shocked and saddened

Mike Trivisonno, of WTAM 1100 Cleveland's Newsradio, dies at the age of 74.
Many people helped pave my path but Mike was instrumental in getting me started with politics and protesting the city and gov.
His march on city hall to bring back the Browns and protesting PSL's is where I got started.

Mike was a great man. I didn't agree with him 100% but I started listening to him way back in the early 90's when he was on FM talking Browns and sports.

He spoke like an average person with the same concerns as you and I.

Trivisonno is a Cleveland legend never to be replaced.

Checking in with everyone

Hey Gang,
Checking in with everyone to tell you aliens and the pc police didn't get me, at least not yet.  Some of you are on both of my lists, political and personal so you know whats been happening, for those who are on just one list...

I went back doing what I use to do, I opened a booth along with Joe at the http://www.craftandantique.com/, hoping to finally liquidate the stuff I have had in storage since the mid 90's when I ran an antique shop.  I need the space, could use a few extra bucks and tired of feeding the mice.  BOY OH BOY did they do damage.  Chewed old clothes, I had some from the 40's still with the tags on them, old mags, books, toys they did real damage..

The other thing I have been spending time on is my cleaning business, making a simple website and a flyer for it.  This is what I have so far.  http://janitorialservicescleveland.com/

And keeping busy being Chairman for Lake County of the Constitution Party of Ohio.  I was just interviewed on an internet radio station.  Its a challenge.

Of course did a few day trips and fun events.  Ruth, Paul and I went to Indian Point the last nice sunny fall day to see leaves, we went all the way out past Medina to hear a lecture on Saturn at some small country park in the middle of no where.  A few trips to Deerfield Circle Antique Mall where I have a shelf set up, Kinuza Dam in Pa. and a really fascinating experience at the historic St. Stephens Church in Cleveland to hear a talk on the stigmata.  It still has me thinking.  Soon I will try to organize an outing to see some of these gorgeous churches.  I better hurry as so many are closing down.

Finally, this Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, in case you couldn't figure it out.... I have a group outing planned to Amish country to see a live nativity parade in Berlin, Ohio and do some shopping.  Anyone care to go email back so I can give details.  Should be a swell time.

Old fishing reels

I am cleaning out my rental garage and keep finding things I packed away.
I came across three old reels that I think I picked up at an auction years ago.
They are:
1. Shakespeare Wondereel 1920 model FK or PK
2. Penn No. 190
3. Mohawk no markings other than Mohawk, it has an engraving of a fishing scene on both sides.

The Shakespeare and Penn were hard to photograph. The Penn has an engraving of a lighthouse. Not sure of their value so I contacted http://www.antiquefishingreels.com/i_yourValue.html
to help me out.

My Easter message a day late.

The last couple of Fridays a few friends and I have met at the Panda Buffet in Willoughby for dinner and to share Bible scriptures.
Since its Easter, this Friday my friend Mike talked about the resurrection. Mike said so many sermons deal with the events leading up to, the actual crucifixion and the resurrection rather than the events afterwards. He wanted to concentrate on Jesus over coming death. Jesus was with the Disciples for 8 days after being raised. Jesus taught them scriptures! Thats what Mike wanted to stress, the positive part of the crucifixion, not all the suffering, the resurrection, Jesus over coming death, being with the disciples and teaching them.
I told my friends that while at work I was thinking of something similar. A lot of times I like to draw parallels with scriptures. Sure you need to understand the true meaning of the text but you can apply it or reference it in other areas of your life.
I was thinking of the resurrection and how Jesus defeated death. I am sure when it was going on the Disciples were distraught thinking they were fools for following Christ. But when he rose everything had to make sense.
Sometimes when you are going through things you need to trust God and let it die. Quit fighting it. If its in Gods plans or the best for you what ever it is will spring back to life even better than before.
Thats the key. Don't be like the Disciples who questioned and became distraught, allow what ever situation or problem you are going through to die and let God resurrect it.
Jesus did just that and went along with God's plan of being crucified for us. And in doing so, his life fulfilled a far greater purpose for all mankind.

Happy Easter,
Carey K. Masci

UFO's over Euclid

Aww yes, if video camera's in pencil sharpeners in city hall, arresting people for having a family member stay in their vacant house, street light fee's, 1,000 empty houses, scandals with housing inspectors, a woman killing a doe with a shovel weren't enough Euclid now has UFO's hovering off shore. What next a plague of frogs??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enrvQ_78glA

Mayor Cervenik has been exonerated. He said I told you people weren't leaving because of our bad and inept laws, the empty houses are caused by alien abductions.

Euclid council is busy trying to figure out what to do if the UFO lands. They're debating if they should call the military or just send out their housing inspectors.

Euclid's new ordinance. All alien space crafts that land in the city of Euclid may be no greater than 30 foot in circumference, have no more than 15 revolving lights, must have proof of insurance, can not park on any side street, may not carry any lazar guns within 500 yards of a school zone, must apply for an over night visa, must...............

UFO's appear over Euclid. Carey's cry for help finally heard.
