Shirl talks about Kentucky's earthquake

Hey Gang,
This is a little different for a blog. Instead of rewriting a chat I had with Shirl on Wednesday morning April 23, 2008, I am posting it as it.
The earthquake she talks about happened Sunday April 20Th.
Earthquakes are now happening in Kentucky! This should make us think.

There was no earthquake in Kentucky Sunday morning. There was, however, an earthquake (5.2) in Illinois Friday (18th) at 4:30 cst, and it was felt in Kentucky. This has to be the earthquake she was talking about, as there has been no other major earthquakes near Kentucky for a long time. This earthquake was not predicted, and was located in the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone, which has produced earthquakes this size many times before, including a 5.3 quake in 1968, and a 5.0 in 2002. If there is a 6 quake this summer, it would be in a different Seismic Zone, the New Madrid Seismic Zone, which has produced the worst quakes in US history (some say 3 8.0's) in a three month span from 1811-1812. Experts say there is a 7-10 percent chance this will happen again before 2050. No one has been able to predict Midwest earthquakes, so I doubt that this 6.0 earthquake will happen this summer.
